What to send. The documents to be served, the service address with any unit or suite, the defendant name and type, the court named on the filing, and your deadline.

What changes the price. Address type and access — house, apartment, gated community or business — how urgent the assignment is, how many attempts it takes, and the proof format the issuing court expects.

What you get back. Attempt results as they happen, and a signed, sworn affidavit at the close: an affidavit of service where service is completed, or an affidavit of non-service or due diligence documenting each attempt where it is not.

Court and address reviewed first

We review the court named on your documents, the service address, document type and any service instructions before confirming the assignment.

Maricopa County service conditions

What changes a Maricopa County assignment

Geography, access and precinct routing in one view of how service actually runs across the county.

Maricopa County is not one service environment. It is roughly 4.5 million residents across 9,224 square miles, one of the country’s largest trial court systems, 26 justice court precincts, and an address range that runs from downtown Phoenix high-rises to rural ranch parcels in the far West Valley.

We review the court named on the documents, case type, service address and applicable requirements together before coordinating an assignment. Superior Court civil, family and probate matters are less precinct-sensitive than eviction and small claims filings, while business defendants still require the correct entity and statutory agent before an attempt is made.

Every city and unincorporated community listed above carries its own access profile, and each attempt is recorded so the court receiving the return can see what the server met.

Announced court expansion

The Maricopa County Superior Court is one of the largest trial court systems in the country, sitting above the justice court precincts for civil, family and probate matters.

Downtown Phoenix high-rises

Tower addresses in the central business district and along the Midtown and Uptown corridors are reached through lobby security, concierge desks and building management rather than a street door. Access rules, call-box verification and any refusal are recorded on the attempt, so the return shows what the server actually met.

Gated and guard-controlled communities

Ahwatukee Foothills, Sun Lakes, PebbleCreek and Trilogy at Vistancia are gate or guard controlled. Entry is coordinated ahead of the attempt where the community allows it, and a denied or delayed entry is logged with the reason given at the gate.

East Valley access conditions

Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe and Scottsdale combine older multi-unit complexes with newer subdivisions where parcel points and community mail areas move the effective address. Unit numbers, shared entries and HOA notice rules are confirmed before an attempt is scheduled.

West Valley growth and rural addresses

Buckeye, Goodyear, Surprise, Wickenburg and Tonopah run from new-build neighborhoods with no address history to unpaved roads, long private drives and parcels with no posted number. Addresses like these need more coordination and often more than one pass.

Unincorporated service areas

The county contains county islands and unincorporated communities — Tonopah, New River, Anthem, Sun Lakes — that sit outside any city limit and are not covered by a municipal police department. Routing follows the county address and the justice court precinct that governs it.

Justice court precinct considerations

The 26 justice court precincts are geographic. A Mesa street can fall to West Mesa, North Mesa, East Mesa or Highland, and addresses along the Queen Creek corridor can fall to San Tan. An expansion of the court system has been announced for 2027, so precinct assignments are confirmed against current court information at intake.

Venue and service location are two different questions

Legal venue is set by the court named on your documents and the rules that apply to that case type. The service address is where the attempt physically happens, and it is what determines which justice court precinct map matters for eviction and small claims filings. The court named on the documents, the case type, the service address and the applicable venue rules are all reviewed together as part of assignment coordination, alongside any service instructions you send.

Five-step process

How a Maricopa County assignment is completed

The same sequence applies in Buckeye, Scottsdale, and Queen Creek.

  1. Send the documents and the address

Documents to be served, the service address with any unit or suite, the defendant name and type, the court named on the filing, and your deadline.

  2. We review and quote

The request is reviewed and you are given scope, pricing and available scheduling before any attempt is made.

  3. Attempts and updates

Each attempt is recorded with date, time, address description, access conditions and outcome, including attempts where no contact was made. You hear the result as it happens.

  4. Escalation where it is needed

If personal service does not succeed, we advise on what the rules allow next, including substitute or alternative service, and what the attempt record supports.

  5. Proof of service

When service is completed, a signed, sworn affidavit of service documents the applicable recipient, date, time, location and method of service. When service is unsuccessful, a signed, sworn affidavit of non-service or due diligence documents the attempts, circumstances, findings and unsuccessful outcome. Both are executed under penalty of perjury and prepared in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction's execution and filing requirements.

Completed service and unsuccessful attempts produce different records

Where service is completed, a signed, sworn affidavit of service describing who was served and the date, time, address and method used is prepared for the court that issued the documents. Where attempts do not result in service, a signed, sworn affidavit of non-service or due diligence sets out each date, time, address description, access condition and outcome. Both are executed under penalty of perjury, the attempt log supports the final affidavit without replacing it, and an affidavit of non-service is not proof of completed service.

Courts

Maricopa County court resources

The Maricopa County Superior Court is one of the country's largest trial court systems. Below it sit 26 justice court precincts that are drawn by geography: a Mesa address can fall to West Mesa, North Mesa, East Mesa or Highland depending on the street, and addresses near the Queen Creek corridor can fall to San Tan. Phoenix spans more precincts than any other city in the state, and an expansion of the court system has been announced for 2027. Each precinct page describes the area it covers.

Issuing court, legal venue, precinct geography and service address

These are four separate questions. The issuing court is the court named on the filing and is what governs the documents and the return. Legal venue is set by that court and the rules that apply to the case type. Precinct geography matters where a filing is routed to a justice court precinct, which is determined from the filing and the official precinct map rather than from the city or a courthouse address. The physical service address is where the attempt happens and where documents must be delivered; it does not independently establish venue.

Maricopa County FAQ

Maricopa service questions

What customers ask before a county assignment is opened.

Do you cover every city in Maricopa County?

Yes. All 25 incorporated municipalities are covered, together with the unincorporated communities and Phoenix service areas listed on this page.

Which court handles my service?

The court named on your documents sets where the filing sits and which rules apply. Justice court precincts are drawn geographically, so the service address is what determines the applicable precinct map for precinct-routed filings such as eviction and small claims. Superior Court handles civil, family, and probate matters above the justice court threshold. All of these are reviewed together at intake; the service address is where documents are delivered and does not by itself establish legal venue.

Can one affidavit cover attempts in two cities?

Each attempt is recorded separately with its own date, time, and address. A single affidavit can describe multiple attempts; the court that issued the documents sets what that affidavit has to show.

What is needed to quote an assignment?

Service address, defendant name and type, the court or case reference, any deadline, and the documents to be served.
