The Process Server (TPS) What Qualifications Should You Look for in a Process Server?

Hiring the right process server can make or break your case. Delays, improper service, or legal mistakes can cost you time, money, and even your lawsuit.

Not all process servers are created equal. Knowing what qualifications to look for is essential.

Certification & Licensing – Legally Qualified to Serve

In Arizona and many other states, process servers must be certified to serve legal documents.

What to Look For:

  • Certified by the Arizona Supreme Court (if serving in AZ).

  • Licensed or registered in their state or county (varies by location).

  • Knowledge of federal and state service laws (rules differ by case type).

If a process server isn’t certified where required, their service may be invalid—leading to case delays.

TPS is Supreme Court certified, legally authorized, and trained in state and federal regulations.

Experience – Knows How to Handle Evasive Defendants

An inexperienced process server might get ignored. A seasoned professional knows how to handle any situation.

Experience Matters For:

  • Evasive defendants – Those who dodge service or move frequently.

  • High-risk serves – Cases involving restraining orders or hostile individuals.

  • Restricted areas – Gated communities, tribal lands, secured offices.

  • Legal documentation – Ensuring the Affidavit of Service is court-ready.

A rookie makes excuses—a professional gets the job done.

TPS has years of experience handling the toughest serves, with zero excuses.

Skip Tracing & Investigative Skills – Finds Hard-to-Locate People

What if the recipient is missing, moved, or using fake addresses? That’s where skip tracing comes in.

A Top Process Server Should:

  • Use advanced databases (DMV records, credit reports, employment tracking).

  • Leverage social media & digital footprints (people expose their own locations).

  • Interview neighbors, co-workers, or landlords for leads.

  • Conduct surveillance & stakeouts for evasive defendants.

If a process server can’t locate the person, the legal process is stalled—don’t let that happen.

TPS uses cutting-edge skip tracing technology to locate ANYONE—no hiding.

Reliability & Speed – Meets Court Deadlines

Missed deadlines mean delayed cases. Your process server must be fast and reliable.

What Makes a Process Server Dependable?

  • Quick turnaround – First attempt within 24-48 hours.

  • Multiple service attempts – Different times of day to increase success rates.

  • Rush & same-day service options – If time is critical.

  • Real-time status updates – GPS tracking, email, or text notifications.

A slow or unresponsive process server can cost you a case—don’t take that risk.

TPS delivers legal papers with precision, speed, and real-time tracking.

Professionalism & Discretion – Protects Your Case

Process servers handle sensitive legal matters—how they conduct service impacts your case.

Look For:

  • Neutral, professional demeanor – No aggression, intimidation, or unnecessary drama.

  • Discreet service methods – No embarrassing public confrontations unless necessary.

  • Proper documentation & reporting – A legally valid Affidavit of Service is a must.

  • Ability to handle confrontations calmly – Some people react poorly to being served.

A professional gets the job done right—without unnecessary complications.

TPS is highly trained in professionalism, discretion, and expert documentation.

Legal Knowledge – Knows the Rules Inside & Out

If a process server doesn’t know the law, your case could be thrown out.

Must Know:

  • State-specific service laws – Arizona has strict process serving requirements.

  • Federal rules for legal service – If serving in federal cases.

  • Proper Affidavit of Service procedures – Courts reject incomplete or incorrect filings.

  • Alternative service rules – What to do if personal service isn’t possible.

A process server who makes mistakes puts your entire case at risk.

TPS knows every law, rule, and court procedure—your serve is legally solid.

Success Rate – Gets the Job Done, No Excuses

A great process server doesn’t just attempt service—they complete it.

Check Their Track Record:

  • High success rate on first attempts.

  • Ability to serve evasive or uncooperative defendants.

  • Proven history of handling high-risk or complex serves.

A process server who "tries" isn’t enough—you need one who delivers.

TPS has a near-perfect success rate—because we don’t take "no" for an answer.

Advanced Technology – GPS Tracking, Video, & Digital Proof

The best process servers use technology to prove service was completed.

Must Have:

  • GPS time-stamped service logs – Proof of location and time of service.

  • Body cam or video evidence – Prevents disputes over service validity.

  • Instant digital notifications – Email or text updates on service status.

  • Online service tracking – Clients can check progress in real time.

Technology removes all doubt—your serve is legally documented and indisputable.

TPS uses cutting-edge tools to guarantee proof of service—no challenges, no delays.

Final Takeaway: Choose a Process Server Who Delivers Results

Not all process servers are equal. Choosing the right one means faster service, legal compliance, and airtight proof.

Top Qualifications to Look For:

  • Certified & legally authorized – Meets Arizona Supreme Court requirements.

  • Experienced in handling evasive or high-risk serves.

  • Skip tracing & investigative skills – Finds even the hardest-to-locate defendants.

  • Reliable, fast, and meets court deadlines.

  • Professional, discreet, and legally compliant.

  • Uses GPS tracking & video proof to eliminate disputes.

  • High success rate – Gets the job done, no excuses.

Excellent work. Right to the point with instructions what to send them and what their procedure was. Had my papers served right after the holiday weekend and a copy of the declaration was emailed to me and one was mailed led to the court. No surprises. I’d recommend them to others. Oh! Before I forget, what I like the most was that they answered the phone both times I called. This is rare nowadays.

Justin is the office staff member that did the coordination and John is the staff member that performed the actual document serving. Both super great individuals. Both professional. Both communicated extremely well. I received a follow up phone call from Justin (after the serve) to ensure I filed my paperwork with the court (given that this was a rush serve situation). I also received a confirmation call from John after the serve was completed, informing me how the serve was received.I would definitely use them again! You have to be careful what process servers you use. These guys are really good and professional. —Todd

Tried using a different process server prior to them to save some cash, but the other company struggled every step of the way from the very beginning. Decided to reach out to this company and they handled everything very smoothly and were able to get my person served quick. Communicated along the way, answered all of my questions and overall made me feel much more at ease over the whole situation. Will be using them more in the future and have already recommended them to anyone who needs a process server
