Statewide Nevada coordination

Process server in Nevada

Nevada concentrates its civil volume in two counties, and the two operate differently: Clark County carries the resort corridor and a dense justice court structure, while Washoe County covers Reno and Sparks. Both are coordinated, and neither is treated as a suburb of the other.

How do I get started?
Submit the request online — it takes a few minutes and documents can be attached — or call and we will open it with you.

Nothing here guarantees a service outcome; results depend on the defendant, the address, and the court's requirements.

Jurisdiction

What Nevada service requires

The Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure govern district court service; justice courts follow their own rules of civil procedure.

Who may serve. NRCP 4 allows service by a sheriff, a constable, or any person who is at least eighteen and not a party to the action. Justice court service follows the Justice Court Rules of Civil Procedure. Some Nevada counties license private process servers, so credentialing is confirmed for the county of service rather than assumed statewide.

Method. Personal delivery is the primary method. Service at a dwelling can be made by leaving a copy with a person of suitable age and discretion who resides there, followed by mailing, and the rule requires the affidavit to describe that delivery accurately.

Proof. A proof of service is filed with the court describing the date, time, place, and the person served. Nevada courts read dwelling-service descriptions closely, so the relationship of the person served to the defendant is stated plainly.

Two counties, two rhythms

Clark County assignments are shaped by the resort corridor and 24-hour buildings. Washoe County assignments are shaped by a smaller, more compressed geography. Routing reflects both.

Execution

How a Nevada assignment runs

Intake identifies the court and county, then attempts are scheduled around access conditions.

  1. Intake

Case details, defendant information, service address, and documents are captured in one request.

  2. Jurisdiction routing

The assignment is matched to the venue, county, and precinct responsible for that address.

  3. Attempts & logs

Each attempt is recorded: date, time, address description, access conditions, and contact outcome.

  4. Escalation

Where personal service fails, substitute service or a diligence record for alternative service is prepared.

  5. Proof delivered

When service is completed, a signed, sworn affidavit of service documents the applicable recipient, date, time, location and method of service. When service is unsuccessful, a signed, sworn affidavit of non-service or due diligence documents the attempts, circumstances, findings and unsuccessful outcome. Both are executed under penalty of perjury and prepared in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction's execution and filing requirements.

Local logistics

What changes an assignment in Nevada

Geography, building access, and court practice decide how an attempt is planned.

Resort corridor and 24-hour buildings

Las Vegas assignments can involve buildings with front desks, security checkpoints, and shift-based occupancy. Attempt timing is planned around when a person is actually reachable.

City and unincorporated addresses

A Las Vegas mailing address may sit in the city or in unincorporated Clark County. The justice court township is confirmed by address, not by the city name on the document.

Transient residential patterns

Short-term rentals and high-turnover apartments are common. Identity confirmation at the door is part of the attempt record, not an afterthought.

Distance between markets

Las Vegas and Reno are a full day apart by road. Assignments in both are coordinated separately rather than bundled into one trip.
