Process server by state

Service of process is governed by state law, and no two states define it the same way. Choose the state where the defendant will be served; the state page carries the rule, the coverage, and the courts that hear the case.

Each state page covers who may serve, the permitted methods, the proof the court expects, and the counties and cities with their own hiring pages.

Nationwide assignments are coordinated coverage, confirmed at intake — not a claim of a staffed office in every state.

Four states with the full system

Texas, Nevada, California, and Florida carry the complete treatment: state requirements, dedicated county and city pages, court resources, and local logistics.

TX

Texas

Texas sets one set of rules for citation and service, but the practice differs between a Harris County district court, a Dallas County court at law, and a rural justice court. Assignments are routed to the venue named in the citation, and every attempt is recorded in the form that venue expects.

NV

Nevada

Nevada concentrates its civil volume in two counties, and the two operate differently: Clark County carries the resort corridor and a dense justice court structure, while Washoe County covers Reno and Sparks. Both are coordinated, and neither is treated as a suburb of the other.

CA

California

California is the most method-specific service state in the country: substituted service requires a mailing and a declaration of diligence, and the proof of service is executed under a statutory section. Assignments are prepared for that record from the first attempt.

FL

Florida

Florida service is statutory from start to finish: chapter 48 sets who may serve, what substitute service requires, and what the return states. Miami-Dade anchors the commercial volume, and the rest of the state is coordinated through the same intake.

How the hierarchy works

Nationwide → state → county → city → request

  1. 01Nationwide

One intake desk for assignments in any state.

  2. 02State

The governing rules for who may serve and how.

  3. 03County

The court structure and the venue that hears the case.

  4. 04City

The address, access conditions, and local courts.

  5. 05Request

Nationwide coordination

Not sure which state or court applies?

Send the service address and the case information. The state, county, and venue are confirmed before the first attempt.

How nationwide coverage works

Intake is open 24/7. Requests are reviewed in the order received; urgent deadlines should be flagged by phone.
